Manuela Plutino, Piermaria Corona, Giuliano Menguzzato

Abstract

Abies alba L. and Fagus sylvatica L. find favourable ecological conditions in the forests of the Serre Vibonesi (Calabria, Southern Italy) forming very particular mixed forest stands. This note aims to underline the importance of such formations in which the silver fir finds its optimum, suggesting the management options to preserve and foster them, in their authenticity, not altering the establishing dynamic equilibrium.
