Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.


Author Guidelines

Papers should not exceed 25,000 characters including spaces, not including figures, photos, graphics, tables and references.

Manuscript must be submitted anonymously without any indication useful to identify the name of the authors (for example in the text or in the meta-information of the file).

It is recommended to follow the International System of Units (SI) and to refer to IUFRO standards for the symbols used in forestry.

Scientific names and the words in a language other than the language of the paper must be written in italics.

The title should be clear and descriptive; Authors must also provide a short (running) title, maximum  65 characters including spaces.

Abstract should not be longer than 800 characters including spaces

Keywords: authors must provide not less than 3 and not more than 5 keywords.

Citations: cite references in the text as (Ciancio et al., 2000) if the reference has more than two authors, (Ciancio and Nocentini, 2000) with two authors.

All references cited in the text should be listed alphabetically at the end of the manuscript, as shown in the example, using the following order: last name and initial of the first name of the author, year of publication, full title in original language (in italics), bibliographic data, preferably without abbreviations.

Use the following styles and formats:

Papers must be submitted using a .doc format.

The manuscripts must have double spaced lines, numbered lines, numbered pages.

Numbering of paragraphs should follow the decimal system (1.; 1.1.; 1.1.1.; 1.1.2.).

Up to six figures, black and white photos, graphics in grayscale and tables may be accepted and they must be cited in the text.

Figures, photos, graphics and tables with their captions must be inserted at the end of the text.

If the manuscript is accepted Authors must send figures, in separate files, following these rules:

  • Figures (photos, charts, graphs): please send figures in electronic format (.tiff, .jpg or .eps). Resolution must not be less than 300 dpi.


Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The manuscript is not published, or submitted to another publisher (if this is not the case please explain in the Comments section).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, o WordPerfect format.
  3. Whenever possible URL or DOI for citations in bibliography are provided.
  4. The manuscript is doubly spaced; lines are numbered; pages are numbered; the font is Times New Roman 12; figures and tables are paced at the end of the manuscript, their position and caption is in the text in the appropriate position.
  5. The text adopt the rules specified in the author guidelines section, available in the information page of the Journal.
  6. If the manuscript is submitted to a peer-reviewed section of the journal (if it is an "article"), the text is formatted for a blind revision. The authors must be anonymous.
